Close to 25,000 Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Intense Storms
Around twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland were left without power on the start of the week after powerful weather events impacted the area, producing powerful gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Widespread Damage
Residents witnessed large ice chunks reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts verified that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing power throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams working to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
At the same time, around one thousand residents in the southern state also faced power outages after the capital city saw its wettest day in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received nearly 600 calls for help across the region, primarily for building damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At one point on yesterday, more than twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were experiencing outages.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was expected to become the most rainy day, with persistent severe weather risk anticipated across different parts of both areas.
Safety Concern
Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after historical occurrences where analogous circumstances led to major medical consequences in the area.
